Bobath – Advanced nursing courses recognized by the Bobath Initiative for Nursing and Elderly Care (BIKA®) e.V. and VeBID (Association of Bobath Instructors IBITA Germany and Austria e.V.).

Bobath advanced nursing course for therapeutically activating care of adults after acquired brain damage – Bobath concept

• Course focus (a): For severely affected patients with the aim of maintaining and initiating the ability to move in patients.
• Course focus (b): For patients with the ability to actively participate with the aim of promoting the everyday competence of patients.

• Recognized Bobath basic nursing course according to the guidelines of BIKA® and VeBID.
• There should be at least six months of practical work with patients with disorders of the central nervous system between the Bobath basic nursing course and the Bobath advanced nursing course.

• Advanced nursing course instructor Bobath BIKA®
• Bobath Instructor VeBID (with qualification for advanced nursing courses)

• For nurses from areas such as general ward, nursing home, day clinic, rehabilitation clinic and home care.

• Minimum 35 lessons in 5 days
• The maximum absence time for recognized advanced nursing courses is two lessons. In the event of absences exceeding two lessons, a certificate of attendance will be issued instead of a certificate.

Both Bobath advanced nursing courses (a and b) serve to repeat and deepen the therapeutically activating care learned in the Bobath basic nursing course and to expand specific practical skills and theoretical knowledge. The aim of the courses is that participants recognize the problems and abilities of patients, formulate realistic care goals and adapt their own handling adequately. To apply the Bobath concept even more to individual patients and to incorporate individual aspects more into everyday nursing.

• Implementation of therapeutically activating care Bobath BIKA® in everyday nursing

• Daily minimum of 2 lessons of work with patients
• Movement experience and assessment
• Specification of handling
• Actively design movement transitions individually (e.g. getting up from a supine position into a stable sitting position or to the edge of the bed, getting out of bed, assistance with walking)
• Support with personal hygiene and dressing
• Adaptation of various positions and possibilities of activation (e.g. sitting)
• Nursing handling of facio-oral functions (e.g. oral hygiene, nutrition)
